What's House O' Thermo?: a recording studio in Seattle. I'm Thermo and it's in my house, hence the name.

What's a Thermo?: Among other things, it's been my nickname for a very long time.....

As in Thermo's Tavern?: Yeah, I owned a Tavern in Ballard (North Seattle) We did lot's of live shows, lost some money, and got in trouble with the Police Department due to noise complaints...... Here's a LIST of the bands that played there.

What makes you think you can record bands? Well, I have some recording gear and a place to do it, and, I have a subscription to Recording Magazine...... but in all honesty, that's about it. I love music. I've played in bands, have a pretty good vinyl collection, and like to think that I have a pretty good ear for how things should sound. I still learn something everytime I record a band. I'm no Jack Endino , but you gotta start somewhere..... HERE'S a list of the bands that have recorded here.

So, you think you're some kinda PRODUCER?: Nope, I'm the Engineer... I setup the mics and record you. I may have suggestions about things but you are in charge... It's up to you to lemme know if the take was good enough, if you want more of something in the headphones or in the mix. I will do my best to capture your sound as you want it, but I can't make up for old strings, outta tune guitars, old drum heads, outta key vocals..etc..... Unless you want me to fill in ;)

Why would my band want to record here?: Well, for one, I'm pretty CHEAP but here's the deal.... I like recording, I have some pretty good GEAR , and I'm always looking to learn. You get a no-pressure enviornment to record your shit, and I get to learn from recording you.

OK, how do I schedule time? Send me some EMAIL and we'll get the ball rolling....

What should the band do to get prepared? PRACTICE, Practice, and practice. Time is money (usually). Have a good idea what songs you want to get done, maybe have one or two that you might want to do if the others go well. Practice the songs in the order you want to record them in. Like easy shit first, harder shit later. Know your gear. Make sure your cables don't have shorts, buy new strings (especially bass strings), buy new drum heads and put 'em on before you get here, and TUNE THEM.

Oh, and bring beer for the engineer, Coors Light in cans or bottles ;)
